The Pima County Board of Supervisors this morning by a 3-2 vote appointed Demion Clinco, president of the Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation, to the LD 2 House seat vacated when Rep. Andrea Dalessandro was appointed to fill the LD 2 Senate seat vacated earlier this year when Sen. Linda Lopez retired.
This may be a bit of a controversial decision as there was strong support for Annabelle Nuñez, an associate librarian at the Arizona Health Sciences Library at the University of Arizona.
LD 2 had been represented by three women until Clinco's appointment.
UPDATE: From the PIma County Demcoratic Party press release:
No date has been set for Clinco to take the oath of office. The House Majority staff will organize the ceremony. Clinco will serve out the remainder of Dalessandro's term.
"The Board of Supervisors has selected a worthy public servant to represent Southern Arizona in the House of Representatives," said Pima County Democratic Party Chair Don Jorgensen."We look forward to working with Representative Clinco."
Clinco is President of the Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation Board and CEO of Frontier Consulting Group LLC. He also serves on the Tucson-Pima County Historic Commission and the board of the Center for Desert Archeology. He has a B.A. in Art History from Occidental College in Los Angeles.
