Monday was tinfoil hat day at the Arizona Legislature, led by the Birther Queen, Sen. Judy Burges (R-Crazyland).
You will recall that in addition to being a principal sponsor of the Birther bill, Birther Queen Judy was also a principal sponsor of another bill last year for a far-right conspiracy theory, "Agenda 21." SB1507 would prevent the state, county, and city governments of Arizona from adopting any tenets of the UN Declaration and the Statement of Principles for Sustainable Development (the "Rio Declaration"). It would also have blocked any other international "schemes" that violate the U.S. or state constitutions as well.
Birther Queen Judy's bill passed the state senate on a party-line vote, but died in the House where the bill was held until sine die.
Well, she's baaack! Birther Queen Judy is pushing her "Agenda 21" far-right conspiracy theory in a new bill this year, SB 1403, which would prevent the state, county, and city governments of Arizona from adopting any tenets of the UN Declaration and the Statement of Principles for Sustainable Development (the "Rio Declaration").
The Senate Government and Environment committee on Monday once again approved Birther Queen Judy's bill by a 4-3 vote. The Arizona Capitol Times (subscription required) reports, Senate panel debates ‘seductive evils’ of U.N. sustainability doctrine:
“The truth contained within this United Nations program is something sinister and dark,” Burges testified to a round of applause in committee. “The plan calls for government to take control of all land use and not leave any of the decisions in the hands of private property owners.”
Americans would be forced to give up their land in a “redistribution of wealth” that Burges likened to communism – she later described Brazil itself as a crime-ridden communist country, though the country is a democratic republic.
“Are you ready to give up your private land?” Burges asked the crowd in attendance at the committee, which responded with a loud cry of “No!”
Without objecting to lawmaker’s disgust with the Rio Declaration itself, Arizona business leaders and state agency directors warned that Burges’ SB 1403 was so broad and wide-reaching that it would force businesses and government bodies to go back and reexamine current law in light of the bill. It states that “notwithstanding any other law,” no principles of the declaration can be followed in the state.
That could prevent Arizona from adopting its own sustainable principles, according to Chad Heinrich, vice president of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, and would make it difficult for Arizona businesses trying to follow the letter of the law as adopted by the Legislature.
Judy, Judy, Judy . . . why are you so freakin' crazy? (Check out her legislator home page; she is a cosponsor of every far-right conspiracy theory bill in the Legislature). Is it something in the water supply at Sun City West? (Oh Noes! The communists are flouridating your water supply!)
Why are Arizonans forced to indulge the batcrap crazy proposals of legislators who waste their day listening to the lunatic ravings of Alex Jones and Glenn Beck?
It's right there in her description "R-Sun City"…We've managed to import the old 'gitoffamahlawnyoudirtykidsandyerhippetyhop' crank demographic for decades and decades.

These people believe Glen Beck's book Agenda 21 is brilliant analysis of the conspiracy to force everyone to live in high rises in cities, forcing them to become latte drinking, gay agenda supporting, street car riding, bicycle riding, art lovers---I guess? Somehow the voluntary Agenda 21 is going to take our RVs, SUV's, and huge pickup truck away, along with our guns, our one acre ranchettes, our Coors Light, and our AmerIcan way of life, using Black helicopter to force us into the left coast concentration camps. Can't argue with that logic.
