This is the fourth video in a series shot at the Tucson Unified School District candidate forum hosted by Drinking Liberally Tucson on September 26, 2012.
In this segment, candidates talk about budget cuts and the district's finances. Each candidate got 1.5 minutes to answer the question; three candidates were allowed 30 second rebuttals because they or their policies were specifically attacked by another candidate.
If you want to see the TUSD candidates live, the League of Women Voters, YWCA, and others are sponsoring a debate tonight, Monday, October 1.
Watch this video after the jump. Watch the whole collection here.
Excellent comments from Kristel Foster, Cam Juarez. Miguel and Mark (the only 2 sitting members of the
TUSD school board) disagreed about whether there is a $17 million deficit. This is very concerning! I will be at the debate this evening supporting Kristel and Cam. We need a change on the board. Miguel and Mark need to go.

I also thought that discrepancy between Cuevas and Stegeman was interesting. Stegeman's statement that the staff was now saying "never mind" about that $17 million-dollar short fall was *really* concerning. WTF? I think there are some shady goings on at 1010 amongst the staff.

and what kind of a Democrat is Miguel that he doesn't support unions?!

Yeah, no kidding. In general, he sounded very Republican throughout these clips. I do admire him for not shying away from the tough decisions he has made. Although I may not like all of his decisions, he's man enough to stick by them and try to explain them.
It's easy for the challengers to throw rocks and second guess the incumbents, but do we really know what they would do, when given *all* of the facts a board member has (that the rest of us don't)?
