This woman is an affront to all that is good and decent in Arizona. Our delusional governor, who is in denial of the fact that a conservative U.S. Supreme Court just handed her a smack-down defeat on SB 1070, is now venting her rage by demagoguing on anti-immigrant hatred and hysteria, just as she did during her 2010 gubernatorial campaign.
E.J. Montini of the Arizona Republic reports Brewer says Obama wants “illegals” to vote:
Gov. Jan Brewer went on the radio after the SB 1070 ruling and told KFYI host Mike Broomhead that President Obama’s immigration policies are designed to improve his reelection chances by getting him the votes of illegal immigrants.
Not Latino citizens.
The governor of Arizona says that the president of the United States is encouraging people to cross the border and vote for him.
I’m not making this up. (Here is a link to the radio interview. The accusation comes during an answer beginning at about the 4-minute 30-second mark.)
When asked about her administration’s relationship with the Obama administration Brewer said in part:
“We have done everything we could think of to work cooperatively with them and they turn a blind eye to us. They’re not interested. They want chaos. They want a larger voting base as far as I’m concerned and they want the illegal immigration to continue. Not to even mention the fact that they have addressed the issue that you can register with the federal registration form that doesn’t even need documentation that you’re a citizen… Now they’ll have all the illegals and they can all do whatever they want and register to vote. Although it’s illegal if you’re not a citizen to register. But they’re not enforcing the law so what is going to happen to them? He’s looking for votes.”
Sounds to me like the governor is accusing the president of a crime. A conspiracy to commit voter fraud or worse.
Is she?
I put the question to her office.
I received a response from Brewer spokesman Matt Benson, who said:
"Governor Brewer is simply lamenting, as many have before her, that multiple administrations - of both political parties - have failed this nation when it comes to securing the border, either due to the lure of cheap labor or the promise of future votes among a voter bloc 12 million to 20 million strong.
In this instance, it appears clear that the President's actions in recent days are an attempt to shore up his base of Latino support in advance of the November election.
Over the long term, there may be a play to grant ballot access for all or a portion of the illegal aliens in this country. In the meantime, the federal government's challenge of voter ID laws in Arizona and other states endangers the sanctity of our elections - especially troubling in light of the administration's overall record on law enforcement and border security.
Connecting the dots on these points hardly makes the Governor a conspiracy theorist. It means her eyes are open."
We must excuse Matt. He is a brand new father and probably not getting much sleep.
The governor did not say anything about "over the long term." She said, "He's looking for votes."
It's one thing to disagree with a president's policy. It's a much different thing to suggest that he is encouraging and even participating criminal behavior.
It's a new low.
Although I don't expect it to hold the record for long.
At what point can we invoke Article 5, Section 6 of the Arizona Constitution addressing disability of the governor in office, because our governor is clearly delusional. Oh wait, that would just lead to Birther conspiracy theorist Ken Bennett succeeding to her office, and he is just as delusional. These Tea-Publicans are all crazy!
O/T...but I think you really need to read this. Really.

"Sounds to me like the governor is accusing the president of a crime"
I don't know if the Governor is, but I certainly believe he has.
Article I, Section 8 gives Congress, not the president, the authority "to establish a uniform rule of naturalization"
The president's executive "Dream Act" contravenes the constitution.

The President didn't "executive" anything. This was done through the DHS.

The only "crime" here is that this ignorant fool is the gov of this state.THAT'S not just a crime, but a crying shame.

So Cheri DHS is part of which branch, congress or the court?
