Featured speaker is Gretchen Nielsen, a member of the Raging Grannies and Women in Black, who is well known locally for her opposition to U.S. military involvement in the Middle East, on her lifelong role as a Democrat and activist. Thursday, May 6, 4:30 p.m.: The University of Arizona College of Law is hosting a public forum on the legal issues - not the policy issues - surrounding the new Immigration Status legislation (SB 1070). Meeting is in the College of Law Classroom 164 (Ayers Classroom). The College of Law is located at the corner of Mountain Avenue and Speedway. Parking (for a fee) is available at the Park Avenue Garage at the corner of Park Avenue and Helen Street. Presentation will outline the federal constitutional and criminal law issues (preemption, equal protection, criminal law procedure) that the legislation raises and how the courts are likely to treat the issues. Saguaro Eastside Democrats Fundraiser
Sunday May 16, 5:00 p.m.: Saguaro Eastside Democrats hosts a Springfest Fundraiser dance/party at Shall We Dance Studio, at 4101 E. The debate IS actually on Friday, at least according to the email invite they sent to me. You may want to edit that so people aren't confused -- a couple of readers have already emailed me about it. Thanks for the mention, though!
