Urge legislators not to cut education funding
by David Safier
Please call your legislators and urge them to NOT cut any funding to public
schools. Cuts to K-12 Education shouldn't be the first place we look to
address the budget shortfall. The Arizona Legislature is going into special session on the state's budget
on Monday, December 8th.[snip]
The good news is that this special session will include members from the
CURRENT legislature and administration, not those who will be sworn in this
coming January. All legislators can be reached at
1-800-352-8404.(legislators are listed at the end of the email).

David, it's time to start pushing the tax credit for contributions to public schools. It needs to be done this month. Your recommendations?

I recommend any one of the public elementary schools or middle schools on the south side of Tucson. Find one that actually tells you how they spent their money last year. Some schools just take the money and never report back how they use it, and schools in the affluent side of town are flush iwth cash (one elementary school in the foothills had over $70K from tax credit donations. Some schools are lucky to get $1000.

This is on my list. Thanks for reminding me. I'll mention here, and will later put on the main page, that anyone who can give a short, reasoned recommendation for one or more schools worthy of the tax credit will get their recommendation featured on the page.
