Center right/Far left . . . huh?
by David Safier
While Republicans actually do govern from a center right position, the Democrats in Washington are much more likely to govern from the far left.
Let me un-boggle my mind here a moment.
The Russell Pearce/Jim Weiers Republicans are center right, while the Harry Reid/Nancy Pelosi Democrats are far left. And yet I hear so many times that we're a center right country, which means we should agree with Arizona's extreme right wing, which Alliance just told me is center right. While ideas like health care for all and increasing the taxes on the rich are so left-wing radical that very few Americans would ever tolerate them.
But didn't the country just vote . . .?

I was just thinking about something along those lines today, during a long commute on I10. I was musing on how AZ conservatives love to portray Gov. Napolitano as this uber-liberal, when she's really a centrist. I was also wondering how Napolitano's putative leftism jived with her landslide reelection in 2006. Either Janet is not as liberal as they contend, or Arizona isn't as conservative. Probably a little of both.
