Arizona's Most Corrupt Native Son... er, Carpetbagger, Dick Renzi

We here in Arizona seldom have the thrill and satisfaction of being named tops in anything, except maybe average daily temperature. So, it is a real treat when we are recognized as being the best. In this case, the reason for our being so honored is one of our Congressmen, Dick Renzi of District 1. Unfortunately, I can't say where he lives in District 1, since he doesn't. He and his family domicile in Virgina. I guess Arizona's just too hot.

Anyhow, Renzi was named on the 13 most corrupt members of Congress. Yay! We're number 1-13...!?

So what sort behavior led Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washinton to bestow this high honor on Renzi?

Well, there is the $400K in corporate backed 'loans' that the Federal Election Commission found illegally financed Renzi's 2002 campaign to put a Virginian's butt in an Arizona seat.

There are the hundreds of millions of dollars in appropriations that were introduced and voted on by Renzi benefiting his father's defense contracting company ManTech in Sierra Vista. Naturally, ManTech is a major contributor to Renzi's campaigns.

Of course, Renzi also took over $30K from disgraced Congressman Tom DeLay's illegal money-laundering organization ARMPAC. But Renzi is a sensible boy, he knows that once you get your mitts on the money, you never give it back. Renzi claims there was no impropriety in the transaction; and you know, when you compare it to some of his other financial dealings, he propbably honestly believes that.

So let's give three cheers for little Dick Renzi, one of the most corrupt bastards in Congress. High praise. Sort of like being named most geeky in your class at MIT.

So when it comes time to re-elect Dick Renzi, please suspend...

Comments

It's embarrassing this day and age when a Congressmen isn't even living in his district and his constituents just shrug it off. At least Hillary and Bill got that place in Harlem.

I hope the wave of Democrats being elected this year will also send Renzi crashing back to Virginia for good.
